CURRICULUM AND SPECIALIST SUBJECTS

Wyndham Christian College follows the Victorian Curriculum. The Victorian Curriculum sets out what every student should learn from Prep to Year 10. In 2026, Wyndham will offer VCE as well as other flexible learning options to suit different learners.

The content of the Victorian Curriculum F–10 includes both essential knowledge and skills, these are defined by learning areas and capabilities. The capabilities enable students to develop particular values, dispositions and self-efficacy to become ‘successful learners, confident and creative individuals and active and informed citizens’ (Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians, 2008).

The key learning areas include:

English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business) The Arts (Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Visual Arts) Technologies (Design and Technologies, Digital Technologies) Health and Physical Education Languages. Schools can also offer additional elements within their teaching and learning program.

All students at Wyndham Christian College complete learning in Numeracy, Literacy, Integrated Studies (Science, History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business), Art, ICT, Language, Music, Health, Physical Education and Health. As our students’ progress through the breadth stage (Years 3–8) student learning continues to include each of the curriculum areas, but will have a specific focus on English, Mathematics and Science. When the school reaches the Pathways stage (Years 9–10), Wyndham Christian College will offer a combination of compulsory subjects including English, Science, Mathematics, Humanities, Physical Education and Health as well as a wide range of elective subjects that student can select based on interest.

Additional to the Victorian Curriculum, Wyndham Christian College students from Grade 1 upwards participate in two clubs; Garden Club and Explorer Club. Students from Grade 3 upwards participate in Sport and will compete against other schools in their upper Primary years.

All students also participate in Discovery Learning (Library), Up & Go (Sports Circuit), School Assemblies, Worship (singing), and Chapel services. Students also engage in a daily spiritual devotion.

The programs of, and teaching in, a school must support and promote the principles and practice of Australian democracy, including a commitment to:
