Oakey State High School, located in the centre of the Darling Downs, is a coeducational secondary school with a growing enrolment of approximately 550 students in Years 7 – 12. Established in 1964, it has a proud record of providing a quality educational service to the wider community.
The Principal, Mr Danny Keenan has been leading the rejuvenation of the school culture for the past four years and has seen the school develop into a positive, engaging environment, challenging the brightest students, and supporting those learners who need assistance.
The school caters for the individual needs, abilities and interests of students. We have a highly qualified and dedicated team who focus on providing a diverse curriculum that recognises the importance of academic subjects as preparation for tertiary entrance.
In the field of vocational education and training, Oakey State High School has set a state benchmark for innovation. It is the only school to have ever win “Best school based trainee/apprentice” back to back in 2017, 2018.

Electives Years 7 to 9:
The curriculum offered at Oakey State High School is drawn from The Australian Curriculum (English, mathematics, science and history), The Queensland Curriculum for Year 1-9, QCAR and Essential Learnings in the arts, languages, health and physical education, and technology.
Electives Years 10 to 12:
The Year 10 – 12 curriculum is drawn from the Queensland Senior Schooling Curriculum including the Year 10 guidelines.
Welfare and personal development:
The Hub is a “one-stop-shop” for students needing support or a safe, positive space on campus. Reasons students may access the Hub may be related to: health, welfare, well-being, mental health, relationships and behaviour. Having staff and services centrally located in the Hub increases the convenience and coordination of school services.
Behaviour Support is available to maximize the opportunities for students to remain engaged in learning. Personnel are available to assist all students deal with matters of significance that may be affecting them in some way. At Oakey State High School, the following personnel are available to assist students in need of support:
