Mirani State High School is located in the heart of the Pioneer Valley west of Mackay. It is a growing school that retains its country roots and now has an enrolment of 830 students and a broad curriculum offering vocational education subjects to the full range of academic subjects.

Electives Years 7 to 10: Years 7, 8 and 9 are viewed as part of the Junior School and Year 10 as preparation for Senior. A unique approach to the Year 8 curriculum is based on educational research about adolescence and the middle years of learning. Transition into secondary school is fostered by having teams of teachers timetabled for the Core Teaching Program.
