LOWOOD STATE HIGH SCHOOL

Lowood State High School is a band 10 Queensland school catering for Years 7 to 12. The school was established in 1983 and is located 32 kilometres north-west of Ipswich. We have excellent teaching areas, well-established computer facilities and pleasant school surrounds.

Lowood State High School is committed to providing a high quality education which gives each student the opportunity to achieve to the best of their ability. The school motto is ‘Creating the future’ and its focus is on preparing students with the skills and credentials they require to enable them to progress to the next phase of their life, be it university, further training or employment, thereby ‘Creating their future’.

The school’s curriculum caters for all students and is focused on providing a relevant range of academic and vocational pathways. Its educational support centre caters for students with disabilities, with students having an individual education plan which addresses their specific needs in an inclusive environment.

Subjects/Electives Years 7 to 10: The school offers a broad range of elective subjects from different Key Learning Areas, as well as a School Certificate-focused curriculum in which students take courses in the mandatory subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, and PD/Health/PE, and two elective courses.

Subjects/Electives Years 11 and 12: With students on the pathway that is right for them they are able to experience success and enjoyment at school. The two pathways offered are: OP Pathway, VET Pathway.

Extracurricular activities: Reader’s Cup, CISSSA sport – Winter and Summer Competitions in Futsal, Volleyball, Netball, Cricket, Soccer, Rugby League, Touch Football, and Basketball, Talent Quest, Indigenous Dance Troupe, Debating, Musical, Arts Showcase, Choir, Instrumental Music, School Band, Gym, Community Performances, Athletics Training – District and Regional Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics, Knockout Athletics Competition, Fanfare, Kokoda Challenge, Art Competitions, Ipswich Festival Unmasked Competition.
