As part of the commitment to inspire young musicians to continue to excel, Scots All Saints College launched the Amadeus Academy last week for gifted and talented students with a masterclass workshop and concert featuring internationally acclaimed Australian pianist, Aura Go.
Junior and Middle School music students on All Saints Campus were treated to some of Aura’s solo repertoire which captivated the students. An interactive performance with students playing a digital soundscape was also very impressive and Aura discussed how the structure of music helps inform her performance practice. This session was followed by the official launch of the Amadeus Academy in the Performing Arts Centre on Scots Campus where more 100 people attended from across the college and the wider regional music community.
Head of Music at Scots All Saints College, Mr Jonathon Clipsham, says the newly formed college has always had a strong reputation for outstanding musical programs that encourage a lifelong love of music from the early years of Junior School through to Year 12 and beyond.
“Scots All Saints College is nurturing the talents of its music students by offering music lessons from a young age, opportunities to join an ensemble, pipes & drums or big performance band. With access to individual lessons from experienced tutors and invitations for students to regularly rehearse, sing, play and perform at college and community events, these activities are producing talented and gifted musicians,” Mr Clipsham says.
“Now the new Amadeus Academy aims to take the music abilities of students to new heights as a dedicated music enrichment program to inspire our very committed musical students to focus their talents, share their passions with others and literally reach for the stars. This is an exciting program which we believe will support even greater achievements in music in regional NSW,” he says.
Scots All Saints College is committed to providing an all-round education of excellence to educate the whole child in all their endeavours, tailoring programs to support the strengths and capabilities of individual students.
A new Head of College All-Rounder Scholarship program has been launched to reward individual student contributions who bring a wealth of talents and strive to do their best in their pursuits including academics, music, sport, agriculture, community, Christian values and citizenship.
All-Rounder Scholarship applications are now open and all students from Middle School (Years 5-8) and Senior School (Years 9-12) are invited to apply. Applicants are required to apply in writing before 28 June 2019 with a brief cover letter stating why they would value a Scots All Saints College education and submit a portfolio with recent reports and certificates. There is no testing, however, shortlisted applicants are required to attend an interview. The scholarship provides tuition fee discounts for the life of the student at the college.
