Sacré Cœur seeks to address the educational needs of our students in a world being continuously shaped by technological development.
Sacré Cœur ‘s Future Fit Framework embraces recent research and acknowledges the challenges of our changing world. These include:
Unparalleled technological development such as AI has and will continue to transform the way in which we live, work and learn. In the future, students will be required to be able to use AI by distinguishing and evaluating knowledge to address societal.
COVID -19 transformed how education can be delivered and how workplaces can operate. There is also a huge focus on developing global citizens who care and act on global issues. Therefore, we must prioritise equipping students to be able to self-manage and self-direct their work.
Research findings of the Foundation for Young Australians, note that in 2030, workers will spend:
The development of skills is needed to develop an education that better prepares our young people for their future.
Self-actualisation relates to a person achieving their highest potential and being the best they can be. This results in students achieving their goals with purpose and relates back to what Michael Stevenson (2021) refers to as flourishing.
The OECD 2030 learning framework (2018) sets wellbeing as the key purpose of education. Wellbeing centres on equipping students with the resilience, tenacity and mindset to overcome challenges and adversity. Stevenson (2021) extends this purpose of wellbeing by proposing that schools of the future need to focus on human flourishing as their primary objective.
These values underpin and marry learning and wellbeing at Sacré Cœur where we seek to help form the whole person; the spiritual, academic, social-emotional, physical, psychological, aesthetic and ethical. Therefore, a Sacré Cœur education offers a transformative experience where students are actively encouraged to achieve their personal best.
Furthermore, the Future Fit Framework seeks to make all learning visible. In order to navigate a complex world, students must be able to foresee and enact solutions. Learning must actively teach reflection, analysis and creativity. Learning is designed to be authentic, relevant and applicable to the students’ world.
Our focus on excellence and purpose relies on the sequential development of knowledge, skills, character and attitudes. Student voice and choice are critical in helping to shape learning and teaching that promotes agency and hope that our students can be part of the solution to the challenges our world faces. And connection to our local and global community, between students, staff and parents, and between disciplines is vital to render meaning in learning and help students take their place in our world.
Sacré Cœur is committed to providing a holistic, contemporary education. We invite students and families to join us to Meet Your Future.
