Alexandria Park Community School is a dual-campus school with an enrolment of 350 students. Students from many different ethnic backgrounds attend the school, with approximately 27 per cent of the students being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background. The school has an established Middle School structure (Years 5 to 7) and has opportunity classes in the primary and a selective stream in the high school. Students in these classes are provided with a stimulating learning environment focused on their needs and are highly successful in state-wide competitions and tests.
The curriculum structure is designed to meet the needs of students from a wide range of abilities and there is a very successful VET, traineeship and apprenticeship program operating in the senior school. There are extensive academic, sporting and cultural opportunities and a broad range of innovative programs that cater for individual learning styles in smaller class sizes to ensure that each child has the opportunity to be a successful learner.
Extracurricular activities: Activities include a Sports Development Project, choir, band, computer club and journalism club. The school has also established close links with UTS, TAFE and Sydney University to support students’ career pathways.
