WILEY PARK GIRLS HIGH
Established in 1957, this is a multicultural school catering for the
educational needs of girls from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. The focus
is on developing girls as independent learners in an Australian school that
values the diversity of cultures in our society.
Facilities: Playing field, tennis courts, assembly hall, four
computer rooms, multi-lingual library, performing arts centre, ceramics area,
photographic laboratory, food laboratory, specialist music centre, design and
technology rooms.
Electives Years 7 to 10: French, Arabic, Music, Visual Arts, Design
and Technology, History, Geography, Commerce, Drama, Computing Studies.
Electives Years 11 and 12: Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry,
Arabic, Music, Visual Arts, Modern History, Geography, Computing Studies,
Society and Culture, Business Studies, Food Technology, Textiles and Design,
Legal Studies. Students may also study a variety of courses at TAFE. Industry
studies courses in Retail, Hospitality, Business Administration, and
Information Technology are also offered.
Sport: A wide range of sports is offered.
Welfare and personal development: Peer support, exemplary student
welfare programs, work experience.
Special features: Gifted and talented program, strong
post-compulsory educational programs. Special attention is given to the
teaching of English across the curriculum and English-as-a-second-language
(ESL) team teaching, involving a subject teacher and an ESL teacher. HSC
results have been creditable.
