Upgrades to existing classroom areas, additional new classroom block and a refurbished Library/Resource Centre opened in 2011. The St John Bosco Chapel has recently been updated to further enhance current facilities. Works carried out on the college oval and grounds provide students with first class recreational areas.
Curriculum: Salesian College provides a diverse and ever changing curriculum tailored to suit the needs of students. The school engages students in the learning process, challenges them to take responsibility for their own learning and encourages them to strive for personal excellence. The Biretta class (introduced in 2010) is composed of very able students and features appropriate levels of differentiation, extension and enhancement. The program emphasises higher order skills in thinking, ICT, research and evaluation. Various subjects will be compacted so that time is preserved in the curriculum for enrichment and extension. Salesian’s innovative Year 9 Program conducted on the completely separate Mannix Campus encourages growing independence, offers hands-on learning experiences and adopts an enquiry learning approach. Learning support programs and wellbeing programs are essential elements of the curriculum.
Sport: A wide variety of sports are offered, from swimming and athletics to soccer and cycling. The college competes and is a winning member of the Associated Catholic Colleges Sporting Competition.
Extra-curricular activities: These include chess, cycling, bushwalking, canoeing and community service and students can also take part in musical ensembles and choirs, drama, debating, photography, camps, excursions, retreats and overseas trips.
