Bidwill High was established in 1977 and is set in extensive, shady grounds. The school promotes a theme of growing in understanding and educating for life, with an emphasis on technological literacy.
Facilities: Library, gymnasium, sporting fields, theatre, agriculture plot, tennis courts. Participation in the Disadvantaged Schools Program has enabled computer facilities to expand considerably. The school aims to have a centre of excellence in computer publishing. All students are expected to develop skills in computing.
Electives: A broad curriculum includes German, Legal Studies, Agriculture, Society and Culture, Computing Studies, and Business Studies to HSC. OES subjects range from Health and Recreation to Early Childhood Development and Drama.
Sport: Traditional sports are available. Bidwill High is strong in Junior rugby league and fields a successful girls’ soccer team.
Extracurricular activities: Bands, debating, chess, computing.
Welfare and personal development: The school is known as one of the more disciplined in the region and high standards of behaviour and uniform are rigorously maintained. Special attention is given to study skills for Years 11 and 12.
