Baulkham Hills High School aims to provide an educationally-enriched environment for academically gifted students. Self-discipline is emphasised and excellence in academic, cultural and sporting pursuits is encouraged.
Facilities: Four computer rooms, internet access and mini labs, eight science labs, two sporting fields, basketball courts, library, gymnasium. A large multi-purpose hall was added in 2002.
Electives Years 7 to 10: Commerce, Computing Studies, Electronics, Food Technology, Geography, History, Japanese, French, German, Latin, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Philosophy, Music, Drama.
Electives Years 11 and 12: English, Mathematics, Modern History, Ancient History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Legal Studies, Geography, Engineering Studies, Food Technology, Music, Visual Arts, Drama, PD/Health/PE, French, German, Japanese, Studies of Religion, Information Technology, Software Design. All NSW Board of Studies extension courses are also offered.
Sport: A wide variety of competitive and recreational sports.
Extracurricular activities: Gymnastics, string ensemble, cadets, concert band, stage band, aerobics, computing, debating, Mock Trial, public speaking, dance, drama, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, Young Achievers, Shakespeare Festival, literary society, fitness, chess, Student Representative Council, ISCF, Tournament of Minds, photography, peer support camp. Students have had great success in Australia-wide English, Mathematics and Science competitions.
Welfare and personal development: Peer support and other student welfare programs are in operation and the school has a student council and prefect system. A student tutorial service is also available. Careers education is taught in Year 10 and students participate in work experience programs. There are welfare camps in each of the junior years.
