Indooroopilly High’s curriculum is wide and varied, offering choices in Queensland Studies Authority and Vocational Education subjects, as well as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Subjects/Electives Years 7 to 10: English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Health and Physical Education, The Arts and Sport, with continued emphasis on numeracy and literacy. Further, students study a semester of Technology (Industrial Technology and Home Economics) and a semester of LOTE (Chinese and Spanish).
In Year 9, students choose three elective subjects.
In Year 10, all students study the Core Subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Studies of Society and Environment, and the Lifestyle and Personal Development program. In addition, Year 10 students will study three Elective Subjects.
Electives Years 11 and 12: In Years 11 and 12, students study an English course (English, English Communication or English for ESL Learners) and a Mathematics course (Mathematics A, Mathematics B, Pre-vocational Mathematics). Students select from a comprehensive range of subjects to build their course of study in line with their future plans and interests.
Sport: Cricket, Softball, Volleyball, Touch Football, Tennis, Basketball, Australian Rules Football, Soccer, Rugby League. Interhouse carnivals lead to district competitions in swimming, cross country and athletics.
Extracurricular activities: Educational excursions, competitive and recreational sport at various levels, Interact Club, special camps.
Welfare and personal development: Guidance and Counselling, school-based Youth Health Nurse, learning support, chaplaincy, gifted & talented programs.
