Bremer State High School is a large metropolitan high school of just less than 2000 students, located near the Ipswich Central Business District. Bremer SHS has a proud tradition of providing a challenging, diverse and positive education – the school challenges students to pursue their best. In 2015 the school is undertaking a relentless and targeted focus on improving the level of students’ Literacy and Numeracy. For some students this means providing challenge and extension, while others are provided with the extra support requiree to get back on a positive track.
The school offers a rich curriculum program that values and promotes academic achievement while also offering a wide range of co-curricular activities that encourages all students from Years 7 to 12 to develop their talents and interests to the full. Subjects/Electives Years 7 to 10: Maths, Science, English, Geography, History, ITD, Business, Music, Drama, Art, Health & Physical Education.
Electives Years 11 and 12: The school offers a range of Authority subjects, Authority-registered subjects, Vocational Education and Training Subjects, and Senior Schooling commitment. All students are required to initially select 4 (four) subjects along with their allocated English and Mathematics subjects.
Sport: Baseball, softball, basketball, cricket, futsal, hockey, netball, rugby league, soccer, sports awards, tennis, touch football, volleyball.
Extracurricular activities: Music – Bremer Chorale, Bremer Glee, String Ensemble, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Stage Band.
